In 2003, Oshkosh Truck Corporation was named Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year and named to Forbes' Platinum 400 List of Best Big Companies in America for the third consecutive year. It's 6,100 employees are focused on being the leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of a broad range of specialty commercial, fire and emergency, and military trucks. You will probably recognize the names Oshkosh, Pierce, and possibly Medtec which are only a few of the trademarks owned by Oshkosh Truck Corporation.
Oshkosh Truck Corporation introduced a program, in 2003, that recognizes suppliers who continuously help them stay on top. This program is called "Supplier of the Month." Each supplier is rated on:
§ quality of the product offered
§ timely delivery
§ technical support
§ cost control.
U.S. Oil was awarded "Supplier of the Month" in February, 2003.
To emphasize the importance of their suppliers, Oshkosh Truck Corporation went one step further and invited all monthly award winners to a banquet where one supplier would be chosen as "Supplier of the Year." Each monthly winner had to go through a grading system from each of Oshkosh's divisions based on:
§ delivery
§ cost
§ engineering support
§ bid and purchasing support
§ quality and character of the company.
U.S. Oil was awarded "2003 Supplier of the Year" at the banquet held in January.
Over 110 people were in attendance and 14 suppliers were recognized for their efforts in fiscal 2003. Some of the competition were: Nott Company, A to Z Machine, ZF Industries, Gardner, GKN Automotive, Monona Wire, Hendrickson International, Class 1, Allison Transmission, Digital Diversified, Timken Company, SS Industrial, and Whelen Engineering Corp.
Dave Kemps of Motor Oil recalls, "Paul Gosling, the Corporate Purchasing Manager, called me prior to the banquet wondering if U.S. Oil was going to be there and who would be in attendance. I didn't think anything of the call at first, but looking back now, I'm pretty positive they wanted to be sure we were going to be there to receive the award!"
"It was a very exciting moment when Robert Bohm, CEO and Paul Gosling presented the Supplier of the Year Award to us!" said Dave.
U.S. Oil was given a beautiful crystal trophy that will be on display at the Motor Oil Plant. After the awards ceremony everyone enjoyed a local comedian and were given the opportunity to tour Oshkosh Truck or Pierce Manufacturing the next day.
